Connecticut Public has been a leader in children’s programming, building a reputation in public media and early childhood television by bringing Barney & Friends, Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina, and The Saddle Club to public television stations across the country.
As Connecticut’s PBS station, CPTV Kids is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children by fostering critical skills, imagination, and curiosity though curriculum-based entertainment.
Working with recognized initiatives like PBS Kids’ Explore the Outdoors and PBS Parents, Connecticut Public Learning brings learning-based events and programming directly to viewers in their hometowns.
In addition to our educational children’s programming through CPTV Kids, Connecticut Public Learning offers direct-service outreach and events that bring PBS Kids characters, programs, and Ready-to-Learn initiatives to families around Connecticut.
Resources available to children and families include:
From kitchen exploration to arts and crafts for little hands to the answers to all the questions your little ones ask, PBS Parents is an online resource center created with parents and early childhood caregivers in mind.
Ready To Learn
The Department of Education’s Ready To Learn Initiative offers federal grant funding to CPB and PBS KIDS to work with producers, researchers, local public media stations, and other partners to develop and distribute PBS KIDS television programs, interactive games, mobile apps, and hands-on activities to engage children, families, and educators in learning experiences at home, in preschool, and in out-of-school settings.
