Tyler Russell is the video production instructor at the Institute for Advanced Media. He also serves as a producer and editor for CPBN Education.
Tyler is a graduate of the CPBN Media Lab, and is thrilled to continue working with CPBN. “Working in the Learning Lab gives me a chance to give back to a company that gave me my start in the industry, and to put my skills to use in the community,” he says.
He received dual B.A.s in digital media and humanities from Valparaiso University, with a minor in Mandarin.
Tyler remembers his experience in the Media Lab fondly, describing one of his favorite moments from his time in production:
“We were out for a shoot on Candlewood Lake. We were sitting in a boat, conducting an interview, when our guest pointed out a plane coming in to land on the water. There wasn’t enough time to turn the boat, so I flipped the camera off the tripod and leaned out over the edge. There I was, lying straight out over the water, my legs wrapped around a box in the boat, with an $8000 camera balanced on my shoulder, and all I could hear was Paul muttering, ‘Don’t drop it, don’t drop it, don’t drop it.’”
When he’s not teaching or producing content, Tyler enjoys movies, photography and board games.
